Varanasi: Two wanted Criminals Dead in Early Morning Encounter

Varanasi: Two criminals wanted in the shooting of a Sub-Inspector, were killed in an encounter in the wee hours of Monday. Based on intel Varanasi Commissionerate Police intercepted miscreants on the Ring Road, and asked them to surrender. Miscreants opened a burst fire at police party. In retaliatory firing two miscreants were injured. Later, they were declared dead by doctors in hospital.

Both the criminals were wanted in the near fatal attack on sub-inspector posted at Rohaniya police station.

Briefing about the encounter, Varanasi Police Commissioner A. Satish Ganesh said, "Some miscreants attacked a Sub-Inspector and looted his 9 mm service pistol. Uttar Pradesh government and DGP had taken it very seriously. Special teams were formed under their guidance. These teams were continuously tracing the location of the miscreants. This morning, the team of Varanasi Commercial Crime Branch and the Badagaon police intercepted the criminals and asked them to surrender. The miscreants tried to escape by firing and breaking the police cordon. Two miscreants were seriously injured in retaliation and their associate managed to flee the scene. Both these miscreants were sent to the hospital for treatment where Doctors examined and pronounced them dead. A police constable Shiv Babu has also been shot, who is being treated in hospital."
