Lucknow. UP police have served a notice to Neha Singh Rathore, a well-known folk singer, over her recent critical remarks on the government's response to the tragic Kanpur Dehat incident. The incident involved the burning to death of a mother and daughter during the removal of huts by the Tehsil Administration, which has captured national attention and motivated Rathore to voice her opinion in her own style.

Neha has posted a video on her accounts showing police officials serving her the notice at her residence. In the video, Neha Singh can be seen interacting with the police officers about the source of their trouble, asking "Who is troubling you?" The officers respond by pointing the blame at her and asking for clarification on where the alleged trouble is occurring. Following a conversation, Neha Singh Rathore requests a copy of the notice.

The notice was issued under Section 160 of the CrPC, which requires Neha to provide an explanation within three days regarding several points related to the video she had posted on social media. Failure to comply with the notice may lead to legal action against her under relevant sections of the IPC and CrPC.

Many social media users have expressed their disapproval of the police action, stating that it amounts to an infringement of Neha's freedom of expression. Meanwhile, the government has already formed two SIT teams to investigate the incident and provide a thorough report on the matter.
