Varanasi . Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Mutha Ashok Jain took charge as the commissioner of Varanasi. As he assumes office as new police chief of Varanasi, Jain stated that his priorities would be to improve traffic and reduce crime by establishing new standards for policing.

Speaking to the media, Jain said, "Interacting with people after taking charge, what I've observed, traffic jams have been the biggest concern that Varanasi citizens have been facing. We will act pretty much immediately and make an effort to solve the traffic issue. We have identified 7-8 trouble spots, and we will focus on clearing these areas of traffic congestion in a priority manner. In addition, a focus will be placed on better policing and effective crime control for the benefit of the general populace so that people can operate their businesses and work in peace.

The officers of the Commissionerate have been tasked by the new police chief, who previously held the position of DDG of NCB, to take all-encompassing measures to combat the growing abuse among Varanasi's youth.
