Varanasi. A German scientist has claimed that the traditional Hindu practice of Agnihotra, which involves the use of fire and specific organic substances along with the recitation of Sanskrit mantras, has numerous healing benefits. Ulrich Berk, president of the German Association of Homa Therapy, stated that Agnihotra nourishes plant life, neutralizes harmful radiation and pathogenic bacteria, and harmonizes the functioning of prana, or life energy. It can also be used to purify water resources. Agnihotra is derived from the ancient vedic science of Ayurveda.

Berk participated in the three-day international conference on "Sufalam" (Prithvi Tatva) at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, which ended on Monday. He stated that anyone can perform Agnihotra, a process that purifies the atmosphere through a special fire at sunrise and sunset daily, at home. According to Berk, "we can change the atmosphere with Sanskrit mantras and fire prepared with specific organic substances, timed to the sunrise/sunset biorhythm."

He said that Agnihotra, a fire prepared in a small copper pyramid of specific size and shape using brown rice, dried cow dung, and ghee, can be performed at home at sunrise or sunset daily. He added that the combination of Sanskrit mantras and the timed use of specific organic substances can alter the atmosphere.

He said that a small copper pyramid of specific size and shape is used to prepare the fire using brown rice, dried cow dung, and ghee. During sunrise or sunset, a small amount of rice and ghee is offered to the fire while chanting mantras, which creates subtle energies that are generated or thrust into the atmosphere. This produces more healing energy emanating from the Agnihotra pyramid. Additionally, he said that the ghee is thrust into the atmosphere and attaches itself to the molecular structure of the soil, allowing the soil to retain more moisture.

Agnihotra causes plants to better withstand droughts because it changes the cellular structure of the plant, sending more nutrients to the fruit and less to the leaves, stem, and roots, he said. Additionally, many people have found that the size, taste, texture, and yield of fruits and vegetables grown in the Agnihotra atmosphere are superior. It also reduces pest problems in gardens and makes organic gardening and farming easier through the use of techniques, he said.

Many people allergic to smoke have experienced a healing effect by sitting in the Agnihotra atmosphere, which is a holistic approach to life. The healing effects of Agnihotra are locked in the resulting ash, and many people have experienced healings of all types of ailments through the use of Agnihotra ash.
