Gorakhpur. In an unexpected turn of events, a case of purported religious conversion has surfaced in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Over 50 women were found praying with candles and Bibles in their hands in an empty ground at Madapar in Khorabar area, when someone informed the police. The accused, Sanjay Kanojia, was taken into custody by the police.

CO Cantt Yogendra Singh said that during interrogation, Sanjay Kanojia confessed to converting women and that this game of conversion has been going on for the last three years. On the complaint of Karunanidhi Pandey, a resident of the locality, the police have registered a case against the accused and started an investigation.

Sanjay Kanojia, a resident of Ratanpur in Phulpur area of ​​Varanasi, has been living in Khorabar area for the past three years by taking a rented house in Ranidiha. The police allege that Sanjay collects women every Sunday at the house of a person named Harendra Paswan, a resident of Madapar. He allegedly forces them to adopt Christianity by giving them all the greed including money, education of children.

It is alleged that these people target women first for this. When the women are ready to convert, they convert the whole family through them. The accused brainwashes women by telling them to change their lives and virtues of Christianity. As soon as the police arrived, the accused tried to run away, but the police caught him.

The accused told the police that they were not converting religion but only a prayer meeting was going on there. Sanjay told the police that his wife was ill, and despite taking a lot of medicine and treatment, she did not get any relief. According to Christianity, his wife's health was cured by worshiping, and after that, the prayer meeting was called.

This incident has raised concerns about religious conversions and their legality. The police have assured that they will take further action based on the ongoing investigation.
