Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Narendranand Saraswati, the Peethadhishwar of Sumeru, made a statement urging Hindus to consider increasing their population. During a discourse delivered at the Shri Ram Katha event held in the proposed Shri Harihar Tirtha in village Banjari, Katni district, the Shankaracharya expressed concern about the declining Hindu population in 15 states and stated that the slogan of "Hum Do Hamare Do" (We Two Ours Two) would not suffice in such circumstances.

Shankaracharya referred to historical figures such as Bharat, Shatrughan, and Lord Krishna to emphasize the importance of population growth among Hindus. He encouraged individuals to have five children and dedicate one-tenth of their earnings to religious activities.

Shri Ram Katha event, organized by Vijayraghavgarh MLA Sanjay Pathak, is being held in Banjari and is being attended by various saints from across the country. The proposed Shri Harihar Tirtha, which is a proposed religious site, had its groundbreaking ceremony on June 12 in the presence of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and several saints.

During the discourse, Shankaracharya Swami Narendranand Saraswati also expressed his opinion on religious conversions, suggesting that those involved should face charges of treason and have their property confiscated. He further stated that the country did not require a Waqf Board and emphasized the Sanatani nature of India, suggesting that Islam was not needed in the country historically or presently.
