Varanasi: Grave of 5 Years Old Girl Dug, Is this a Case of Necrophilia?

In a tragic incident in the Sadanand Bazaar Dashaashwamedh area, a five year old girl, battling a chronic illness, passed away at the hospital on Wednesday. Following her demise, her body was laid to rest in the Revdi Talab area graveyard around 9:30 PM the same day. The somber events took a distressing turn when the girl's father, visiting her grave on Thursday afternoon, noticed unusual soil atop the burial site, raising suspicions. Collaborating with authorities, they unearthed the child's body, uncovering troubling evidence of foul play.

Prompted by these disturbing findings, three postmortem doctors and two forensic experts expressed apprehensions regarding potential wrongdoing, advocating for DNA profiling to aid the ongoing police investigation. Meanwhile, in a significant development, Mohammad Rafiq, alias Chhotu, residing near the graveyard in Revditalab, was brought before the court on Friday. Subsequently, the court ordered his judicial custody.

The young girl's untimely demise during her medical treatment, coupled with the unsettling discovery at her gravesite, has triggered a comprehensive legal response. The Luxa police, acting on the father's alert, apprehended Mohammad Rafiq, ensuring the deceased child's body undergoes postmortem examination to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
