On the sacred occasion of Diwali, a spectacular ceremony unfolded at Baba Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi, where the spiritual ambiance was heightened by enchanting arrays of lamps and a grand aarti. Concurrently, Assi Ghat witnessed a magnificent Festival of Lights, embellishing the ghat with the glow of 1008 lamps, culminating in a unique Ganga aarti.


The Saptarishi aarti at Baba Vishwanath Dham featured the illumination of lamps on the sacred argha, accompanied by an elaborate ceremony. This reverent ritual, initiated at 7 PM and concluding at 8:15 PM, was conducted by Brahmins representing seven distinct gotras. This venerable tradition, upheld for over 750 years, entails Brahmins carrying a palanquin along seven diverse routes to converge at the temple for Baba's aarti, underscoring its profound cultural significance.


Baba Vishwanath's Dham in Kashi became a luminous spectacle, embellished with glowing lamps. Diyas adorned the steps of the Ganga Dwara in the temple complex, while priests crafted intricate symbols of 'Om' and Swastika using lamps. Baba Vishwanath himself was adorned with a floral garland, a silver necklace, and a radiant silver moon on his forehead.


Meanwhile, at Assi Ghat in Varanasi, the Ganga Seva Samiti orchestrated a special collaboration with the Kripa Art Foundation during the globally renowned Ganga aarti. The event featured an artistic rangoli, a 9 foot conch shaped design, with an image of Lord Rama at its heart, captivating the attention of tourists. The entire Ganga Ghat was aglow with the radiance of 1008 lamps during this mesmerizing Ganga aarti.


Balaram Mishra, the priest at Assi Ghat, reflected on the significance of the day, marking Lord Rama's return to Ayodhya, commemorated by illuminating lamps throughout the city. Since that historical event, Diwali has transcended borders, becoming a global celebration. Heartfelt Diwali greetings, accompanied by special Ganga aarti and rangoli, resonated with the gathering at Assi Ghat in Varanasi, encapsulating the spirit of this joyous festival.
