On a late Wednesday night, three individuals on a motorbike harassed a female student from IIT BHU, who was out with friends on the IIT BHU campus. Upon learning about the incident, 2500 students protested for 11 hours on Thursday, November 2nd. The university administration controversially suggested constructing a barrier to segregate IIT-BHU from BHU. Students have strongly opposed this division, asserting that it undermines the vision of Madan Mohan Malaviya.

Following this, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Kashi Hindu University unit, expresses its sincere appreciation for the recent decision by the university administration to withdraw the proposal for dividing the BHU campus which has been taken in response to the strong opposition from students and the broader university community.

The ABVP has always prioritized enhanced campus security, opposed campus division and has implemented measures like increasing security personnel and CCTV surveillance, endorsed by the university administration. They demand swift and strict punishment for the molestation incident at IIT BHU to deter future incidents. ABVP also condemns student organizations' efforts to disrupt the BHU student movement and attacks on protesting students advocating for campus safety and against division.

Abhay Pratap Singh, a National Working Committee member of ABVP and president of the BHU unit, stated, "We are pleased that the BHU administration has reconsidered its decision to divide the campus in response to the strong opposition from students. Our primary focus has always been on enhancing security measures, and we are content that our suggestions and demands have been fully embraced. We insist on the strictest action against those who have committed the heinous crime of molesting an IIT BHU student. However, it is disheartening to see certain student organizations attempting to politicize the issue, even at the expense of the campus's peaceful environment."

Puneet Mishra, the Unit Secretary of ABVP BHU Unit, added, "While we welcome the withdrawal of the irrational campus division proposal, the unresolved matter of the IIT BHU student molestation case remains a grave concern. The wrongdoers must be swiftly apprehended and subjected to the most severe penalties to deter similar crimes in the future. ABVP stands in unwavering solidarity with the victim and is tirelessly pursuing justice. Our commitment to the safety and security of everyone at Banaras Hindu University remains resolute."

ABVP again reaffirms its unwavering support for the entire Banaras Hindu University community and will continue its persistent efforts to ensure the well being and security of all its members.
