Varanasi. BSc Nursing students of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) are currently holding a protest. The students have organized a dharna to demand the allotment of hostels that were previously promised to them by the university administration.

The protesting students have closed the main gate of the nursing college and are holding posters while shouting slogans against the university administration. They have expressed their determination to continue their protest until their demands are met.

One of the protesting students, Vishal, said that the students have been demanding hostels for some time now, but the university administration has not taken any action on their demands. In 2021, the university administration had given a written assurance that hostels would be provided to all students. However, the assurance has not been fulfilled yet, leading to the current protest.

The protesting students have also alleged that their demands have not been taken seriously for the last four years. They have urged the university administration to address their hostel allotment issue as soon as possible.

The students have also raised the issue of unpaid internship fees. According to them, they have not received their internship fees for six months in the fourth year of their nursing course. The students have requested the university administration to look into this matter as well.
