Lucknow. Dr. Ritu Garg, the director of Santushti Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital in Mirzapur, has been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) in connection with the illegal admission of 982 students in Ayush colleges without NEET exam. Dr. Garg, who is also the wife of Dr. Sanjay Garg, was presented in court and has been sent to judicial custody until March 13.

According to government lawyer Neeraj Kumar Srivastava, Dr. Garg was arrested on February 28 after sufficient evidence was found during advanced deliberations in the case. The court was also informed that a charge sheet was filed against 15 accused, including former Ayurveda director Satyanarayan Singh, on February 13. The STF had filed a charge sheet in the court on the same day against 15 people, including Dr. Garg.

Dr. Garg and her team had allegedly facilitated illegal admissions of students in Ayush colleges without conducting the mandatory NEET exam. The STF's investigation found that Dr. Garg and her associates had received large sums of money from the students and their families for the illegal admissions.

The STF has been investigating the case for several months and has now arrested Dr. Garg after sufficient evidence was gathered. The court has sent her to judicial custody until March 13.

The case was lodged on November 4, 2022, by the then Director SN Singh in Hazratganj, and was handed over to the STF for investigation. The name of Dr. Ritu Garg also came up during the investigation of the case.
